Elliot Duncan scored twice in five minutes as Crowborough beat National League South Hampton & Richmond. Wimborne Town visit on 3 October, 3pm.

Crowborough Athletic have knocked a club from two divisions above them out of the FA Cup. Tuesday night’s second qualifying round replay at the Charles Century Community Stadium finished Crowborough 3, Hampton & Richmond Borough 1. The league’s own match report is headlined, simply, “Crows slay a giant!” (Isthmian League, 23 September 2026)

The reward is a home tie against Wimborne Town in the third qualifying round on Saturday 3 October, kick-off 3pm, and the club’s deepest pocket of FA Cup prize money yet.

How the giant fell

Hampton & Richmond Borough play in National League South, two steps above Crowborough’s Isthmian League South East Division, and had already been held 3-3 by ten-man Crowborough at their own ground on Saturday.

The replay, as the league’s report records it:

  • 27 minutes: Rushaar Samuel-Smikle puts Crowborough ahead
  • Hampton level shortly afterwards
  • 63 minutes: Elliot Duncan restores the lead
  • 68 minutes: Duncan again, 3-1

Duncan has now scored in five of Crowborough’s six FA Cup matches this season. One note on sourcing: the club’s own match centre had not yet published its goal-by-goal record when we checked on Wednesday morning, so the score and scorers above are the league’s record, not the club’s.

The run, and the money

The FA pays through every qualifying round, and the published prize fund (The FA, 2026-27) now has Crowborough’s run at £8,194:

  • Guernsey 0-5, extra preliminary round: £1,125
  • Epsom & Ewell 0-3, preliminary round: £1,444
  • AFC Whyteleafe 3-2, first qualifying round replay: £2,250
  • Hampton & Richmond 3-1, second qualifying round replay: £3,375

Beating Wimborne is worth £5,625 more. Even the losers of a third qualifying round tie take £1,875. Two more wins would put Crowborough in the first round proper, where League One and League Two clubs enter.

The draw has also been kind in one quiet way: this will be only Crowborough’s third home match of the seven-game run. Guernsey, Epsom & Ewell, the Whyteleafe replay and the first Hampton tie were all played away.

Who are Wimborne Town?

A Dorset club from the Southern League Premier South, one division above Crowborough. They needed penalties to get here: their replay at home to Weston-super-Mare on the same night finished 1-1 after extra time, and Wimborne won the shoot-out 4-3 in front of 540. (Weston-super-Mare AFC, match record)

The draw was made on Monday: the winners of that tie would travel to Hampton or Crowborough, and Wimborne’s own announcement confirms ties are due to be played on Saturday 3 October with a 3pm kick-off. (Wimborne Town FC, 21 September 2026)
