Direct Southern trains take 1 hour 9 minutes to London Bridge, but only one an hour, at 44 minutes past. Fares, the £3,936 season ticket and station parking.
Crowborough has a direct train to London Bridge that takes 1 hour 9 minutes. It also has only one of them an hour, all day, and the evening service thins to nothing between the 21:07 out of London Bridge and a single last train at 23:07. Both facts shape commuting here far more than the journey time does, and neither is obvious from a search result.
Everything below was checked against live timetable and fare data on 9 August 2026, using a Monday departure so the figures are weekday ones.
The service
Crowborough station sits on the Uckfield branch, the line railway people still call the Oxted line. Southern runs it, and it is one of the few routes into London that is not electrified south of Hurst Green, so the trains are diesel units rather than the electric stock on the Brighton and Hastings lines.
The station is not in the town. It is at Jarvis Brook, on the Crowborough Hill side, about a mile and a half from the High Street in a straight line and further by road, with the climb on the way home rather than the way out. That is why the car park matters more here than at most commuter stations.
Weekday times to London Bridge
Departures are hourly at 44 minutes past, with one earlier train at 05:42.

There is no second peak train. If you need to be at a desk in the City for 9am, the 07:44 is the train, and if it is cancelled the next one puts you an hour late. That is the real Crowborough commuting risk, and it is worth knowing before you buy here.
Coming home, departures from London Bridge are hourly at 07 minutes past and take 1 hour 2 minutes, so 17:07 arrives at 18:09, 18:07 arrives at 19:09, and so on to the 21:07 into Crowborough at 22:09.
Then the pattern breaks. There is no 22:07, and the last direct train of the day is the 23:07, into Crowborough at 00:05, which runs slightly quicker at 58 minutes. That two-hour hole in the evening is the thing to plan around: miss the 21:07 after a night out and the choice is waiting until 23:07 or a taxi from somewhere further down the line.
Victoria takes longer
There is no direct train to London Victoria from Crowborough. Journeys involve a change, usually at Hurst Green or East Croydon, and run 1 hour 14 minutes to 1 hour 17 minutes on a weekday. On Sundays the pattern changes again: the whole day runs via a change at Hurst Green and takes 1 hour 24 minutes.
If your destination is in the West End rather than the City, the honest answer is that London Bridge plus the Jubilee or Northern line is usually no slower than waiting for a Victoria connection.

Leaving an hour later than the 08:44 saves £6.80 on the return. Leaving at 09:44 rather than 07:44 saves £17.00, which over a three-day-a-week hybrid year is more than £2,000.
Season tickets, and the point where they pay

The plain London Terminals annual at £3,936 is the one most Crowborough commuters want. The dearer versions buy reach. Trainline describes them as “also valid for travel to or from” Three Bridges or Tunbridge Wells, so they cover getting home via a station on another line, which on a single-track diesel branch is not a theoretical concern.
Two office days a week and the day return wins. Three and the season pays. If you are on the line between them, the monthly at £377.90 breaks even at just over eleven journeys, so you can buy it only in the months you know you will be in.
Parking at the station
The car park is run by APCOA on behalf of Southern and has 119 spaces, including five disabled bays, four electric vehicle bays and one motorbike space. Charges, from APCOA’s own tariff page:
- Monday to Friday, all day: £6.60
- After 5pm, Monday to Friday: £3.40
- Saturday and Sunday: £3.20
- Weekly: £25.40, monthly £90.70, quarterly £263.50, annual £834.50
A 15p convenience fee is added to all tariffs. Payment is by the APCOA Connect app, ScanPay QR code, or the machines on site. Blue badge holders park free once the vehicle is registered through APCOA’s blue badge portal.
At £6.60 a day, parking adds around £1,520 a year to a five-day commute, so the annual car park season at £834.50 is worth doing the arithmetic on. Add it to the rail season and a full-time Crowborough commute to London Terminals costs about £4,770 a year before you have touched the Underground.
