The Crowborough Players stage The Hound of the Baskervilles at the Community Centre on 11, 12 and 13 December 2026. Times and prices are not out yet.
Crowborough’s pantomime this year is The Hound of the Baskervilles, staged by the Crowborough Players at Crowborough Community Centre on Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December 2026.
The Players announce it on their own site in these words: “This year will see Crowborough’s latest community pantomime at the Community Centre, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and we’d love you to be involved! Performances will be on 11th, 12th and 13th December.”
It is a neat piece of local casting. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived in Crowborough from 1907 until he died here in 1930, and his statue stands in the town centre.

What is not confirmed
Performance times and ticket prices have not been published. Nor has the pattern of matinee and evening shows across the three days. That is not unusual this early: the cast had not been auditioned when we checked on 5 September. For comparison, the Players’ 2025 panto, Excalibur, ran as an evening show on the Friday, a matinee and an evening on the Saturday, and an evening on the Sunday. Do not book travel or childcare on that assumption; we will update this page when the real times go up.
If you want to be in it
The Players are still recruiting, both on stage and off, and the dates are firm:
| When | What | Who for |
|---|---|---|
| Sun 6 Sept, 3pm to 5pm | Offstage crew and help meeting | Front of house, lighting, sound, anyone helping |
| Thu 10 Sept, 7.30pm to 9.30pm | Open auditions | Adults 16+, and 12 to 15s wanting an adult rehearsal part |
| Sun 13 Sept, 3pm to 5pm | Open auditions, second date | As above |
| Sun 20 Sept, 3pm to 5pm | Juniors’ panto workshop | 6 to 11s, and 12 to 15s wanting Sunday-only rehearsals |
All four are at Crowborough Community Centre. The junior workshop is not an audition: the Players say everyone who turns up and wants to be in the panto is guaranteed to be in it. Adult and senior youth roles include evening rehearsals until 9.30pm; the Sunday-only junior roles do not. A parent or guardian of any 12 to 17 year old has to attend the first ten minutes of the audition to sign a permission form.
Anywhere else nearby?
Not this year, on the evidence available. Uckfield Civic Centre lists no pantomime in its what’s on for December 2026 or the 2026/27 winter season, which runs from a Doing Elton tribute on 28 November straight through to a Festive Afternoon Tea on 19 December and then into February. Uckfield Theatre Guild has staged panto there in past years, so that could still change.
