Two Uckfield residents, Saxon and Philipa, toured Westminster with Mims Davies MP and watched PMQs. How to book a Parliament tour or ask her office for one.
Two residents from Uckfield, Saxon and Philipa, spent Wednesday at the Palace of Westminster as guests of Mims Davies, MP for East Grinstead and Uckfield, touring the building and joining her for Prime Minister’s Questions.
Her office said they also used the visit to put questions to her about the work she does for residents and to talk about local issues. It is the latest of several constituent visits: her office described it as welcoming “even more residents”, “this time from the lovely Uckfield”.

What she said
Ms Davies, who is also Shadow Secretary of State for Wales, said:
“I was thrilled to welcome even more lovely constituents to Westminster today and to join Prime Minister’s Questions.
This week I was honoured to welcome Saxon and Philipa from Uckfield to tour Westminster and answer any questions they had on the work I carry out on behalf of residents such as herself.”
She tied the visit to her party’s recent conference:
“I have to say it is so motivating to see and hear young people wanting to be more involved in politics. Especially following Party Conference where we saw 50% more Young Conservatives than the previous conference.”
The 50% figure is hers; her office gave no source for it. She gave a similar figure when she spoke to residents at the Highlands Inn in Uckfield earlier this month.

What it means for you
If you live in the East Grinstead and Uckfield constituency, which covers East Grinstead, Uckfield and the villages around them, and would like to visit Westminster through your MP, Ms Davies asks you to email her at Mims.Davies.MP@parliament.uk:
“If you’re a resident and interested in coming up to Westminster - please do email me.”
Anyone can also book a paid visit directly. Parliament’s visiting page covers the House of Commons, the House of Lords and Westminster Hall, the oldest building on the estate. When we checked the official ticketing site on 14 October, the options on sale were an audio tour, a 90-minute guided tour, a Big Ben tour (334 steps to the belfry), a family day at which children go free, tours of Speaker’s House, and an after-hours “Lates” event.
