Crowborough: the Social Club, Croft Road

Crowborough Town Council’s events page lists a land train taking families from the Christmas Cracker on the High Street to Santa’s grotto at the Social Club on Croft Road. The Cracker runs from 4pm to 6.30pm on Friday 27 November. The council’s site turned our reader away on 5 November, so this detail was last read on 29 October. Crowborough Rotary also lists the Cracker on that date.

The council has not published a grotto price or whether you can book. The evening is on our Christmas lights switch-on page.

The Enchanted Cabin, Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells

Royal Victoria Place says The Enchanted Cabin runs from 14 November to 24 December, a meet and greet with Father Christmas guided by his elves. Tickets are from £15 a child, including a gift the child chooses. The centre’s postcode is TN1 2SS.

Christmas at Bewl Water

Bewl Water’s Santa experience, at Bewlbridge Lane, Lamberhurst, TN3 8JH, runs on 28 and 29 November, 5, 6, 12 and 13 December, then every day from 19 to 24 December. Tickets must be booked online in advance. The quest lasts just under two hours and Bewl suggests allowing about three for the whole visit, with biscuit decorating, an elves’ workshop and live performances along the way. Santa’s meeting is personal: he sees each child’s name, age and interests from the booking, and each child chooses a gift from the Toy Exchange. Each Santa visit takes up to eight guests, and babies under one do not count towards that. Bewl keeps its prices on the booking system.

Hever Castle

Father Christmas is an optional extra at Christmas at Hever Castle, which runs from 20 November to 2 January, closed 23 and 24 November and 25 and 26 December. A child’s ticket must say “Father Christmas” in its description, and it gives a grotto time later than your grounds entry. Pre-booking is essential for Father Christmas, online only, and tickets cannot be refunded or moved to another date. More on the castle is on our Christmas light trails page.

Borde Hill, Haywards Heath

Borde Hill runs Santa’s Grotto on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 December, with 30-minute sessions from 9.30am to 3.45pm. Children do Elf Training Camp first, then see Santa and receive a gift. It costs £19, members included, for one child and one supervising adult, with garden entry that day; a second adult in the grotto is £6.95. Every visit must be pre-booked, and tickets are non-refundable.

Knockhatch Adventure Park, near Hailsham

Knockhatch has a new grotto in its Froggies soft play building on 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 December. Each child gets a wrapped present and time with Father Christmas. The grotto price still reads “TBC”. You buy grotto tickets at the park on the day, and you also need park admission or an annual pass. Only children receiving a present need a grotto ticket.
