Wealden has not set its Christmas 2026 bin dates yet. Last year every collection from 25 December ran one day late until 10 January. The full 2025 table is here.

Wealden District Council has not yet published its Christmas and New Year bin dates for 2026/27. Last year it confirmed them on 17 November, and the pattern was simple: every collection from Christmas Day onwards moved one working day later, and normal days came back on Monday 12 January.

The quick answer

  • 2026 dates: not published yet. Expect them in mid-November, going by last year
  • Last year, every round from 25 December to 9 January ran one working day late, with Saturday collections on 27 December, 3 January and 10 January
  • Garden waste stopped for two weeks over Christmas and New Year

What happened at Christmas 2025

Wealden’s own flyer, which Uckfield Town Council posted on 17 November 2025 with the council’s confirmation, listed every change for rubbish and recycling:

Usual collection day Revised collection day
Thursday 25 December Saturday 27 December
Friday 26 December Monday 29 December
Monday 29 December Tuesday 30 December
Tuesday 30 December Wednesday 31 December
Wednesday 31 December Friday 2 January
Thursday 1 January Saturday 3 January
Friday 2 January Monday 5 January
Monday 5 January Tuesday 6 January
Tuesday 6 January Wednesday 7 January
Wednesday 7 January Thursday 8 January
Thursday 8 January Friday 9 January
Friday 9 January Saturday 10 January

Collections went back to their usual days from Monday 12 January 2026.

The two collection calendars we checked for our Crowborough bin days page show the same thing from the household end: a Monday round was moved only twice, to Tuesday 30 December and Tuesday 6 January, while a Friday round moved three times.

Garden waste: two dates in two places

The flyer said brown bin collections were suspended from Thursday 25 December 2025 and resumed on your usual day from Thursday 8 January 2026. The council’s own post on X on 2 December gave a different restart, Monday 12 January. If the same mismatch appears this year, the date for your address on the council’s bin search is the one to trust.

Why 2026 will be different

The dates will not repeat. This year Christmas Day is a Friday, Boxing Day’s bank holiday moves to Monday 28 December, and New Year’s Day is Friday 1 January 2027, according to GOV.UK’s bank holiday list. Three bank holidays falling on collection days, two of them Fridays, is a different shape from last year’s Thursday Christmas.

Wealden’s rule is fixed: its collection calendars state that apart from Christmas, all other bank holiday collections take place as normal. So Christmas is the only time of year your day moves.

Christmas rubbish: what the council asks

From the same 2025 flyer:

  • bins out at the edge of your property by 7am
  • extra recycling can go out in non-black plastic bags next to the recycling bin, but glass must go inside the bin
  • wrapping paper and cards go in the recycling bin, except foil and glitter
  • real Christmas trees can be cut up and put in the garden waste bin, or taken to a household waste recycling site

The tip is the other half of the Christmas puzzle: last year Crowborough’s site closed on 25 and 26 December and 1 January and shut at 1pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The full hours are on our Crowborough tip opening times page.

Find your own dates

Wealden’s bin day search takes a postcode and returns your next collections plus a downloadable calendar. The current calendars stop in December; the council says a new one will be available then.

When this page will be updated

We will add the 2026/27 table as soon as Wealden publishes it. Last year that was 17 November, so check back from mid-November.
